ANU Classics Museum

Galleries, Museums and Collections

The ANU Classics Museum, established in 1962, displays over 600 items that provide fascinating insights into the cultural practices of the ancient Greek and Roman worlds.

The collection, which is open to the public, spans the Mediterranean and beyond. It features examples of ancient art and objects of daily life from Greece and the Roman world, including Egypt and the Near East. From very modest beginnings, the collection has steadily grown through the years with the support of ANU and University House, and with loans from the Australian National Gallery and the Parliament House Art Collection.

School students of all ages can enjoy Curator-led tours of the museum and hands-on object-based learning workshops. These are also open to professional tour groups and other professional and academic organisations. Curator-led tours can be booked by sending us an email.

Volunteer-led tours for community groups and volunteer organisations are available from our wonderful Volunteer Guides, who also provide free monthly public tours for the general public.

An easy walk from the City West bus interchange, paid parking also available nearby.
