Kowen Pine Forest

Natural Attractions

Kowen Forest is very popular for orienteering, bush walking, running, mountain bike and horse riding.

From the Molonglo Gorge Recreation Area, a 2.5 kilometre walking trail follows the river to a small grassed picnic area called Blue Tiles. There is no drinking water available at Blue Tiles, so ensure you take sufficient water with you.

Glenburn heritage precinct is 3.7 kilometres walking distance from the Old Kowen Homestead, heading back along Kowen Road and then connecting with Fernside Road heading south, then on to Charcoal Kiln Road.

Kowen Forest is a commercial pine plantation. You may encounter forestry operations or heavy machinery. For your own safety, please adhere to all signage and avoid closed areas of the forest.

Kowen Forest is locked to vehicles. Motor bike riding and 4WD is prohibited without a permit. Information about aplying for a permit can be found on the website.
