Where To Stay Bundewallah, Shoalhaven, New South Wales
Khan Cottage enjoys a spectacular outlook with views over Bundewallah’s rainforest escarpment.
Wake to birdsong and the rush of House Creek on this 135-acre Biodiversity Conservation property. In winter enjoy a blazing fire in the wood-burning stove. Berry is a five-minute drive away and South Coast beaches are close by.
Khan Cottage accommodates up to four people. It has two bedrooms, one with a queen-size bed and the other with a double. The house is lovingly furnished and has a wood-burning stove, gas heater and a Bluetooth speaker for music. Whether you book one bedroom or two, the house is yours for the duration of your stay.
Twenty-five years ago when we bought this land, its creeks were dense privet and lantana. Today they are regenerating Illawarra Subtropical Rainforest, a Critically Endangered Vegetation Community. They mean to restore as much of this rare rainforest as possible within our life times and have dedicated countless thousands of hours in (hard) labour and many tens of thousands of dollars of personal investment towards this end.
They have been awarded Federal, State and local government grants to assist them. In March 2020, as a result of the success they have achieved, the property was granted Biodiversity Conservation status by the NSW state government.
