Beneath the Moree Plains lies the Great Artesian Basin giving Moree the title of Australian Artesian Spa Capital. Discovered in 1895, the natural artesian hot springs are reputed to provide health and healing benefits, guaranteed to leave you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.
The rich, black soil of the Moree Plains makes it the country’s most productive agricultural area with crops of cotton, wheat, pecan nuts and olives. Its pecan nut farm is the largest in the Southern Hemisphere.
With three major waterways, the Moree Plains is popular with fishermen for its Murray Cod, Golden Perch, Silver Bream and Eel Tail Catfish.
