Mitchies Jetty

Landmarks and Buildings

Mitchies Jetty is a quintessential Merimbula destination, located on the sparkling shores of Merimbula Lake.

Originally built as a fishermen’s “net shed” in the 1920s, the site was bought by Don Mitchelson who replaced the jetty and shed in the 1940s – early 1950s. The colourful shack is now an icon of Merimbula and perhaps one of the most photographed locations on the Sapphire Coast!

Mitchies Jetty is a popular coastal hangout for young families, especially in the summer months when jumping off the jetty is a favourite pastime. The crystal-clear waters and surrounding foreshore are perfect for sheltered swimming, SUPing, kayaking and fishing.

Mitchies Espresso Bar is open in the mornings all year round, serving delicious Wild Ryes coffee and baked treats.

Stroll around the estuary mouth for a walk along Main Beach, or follow the paved walking path along the lake’s foreshore towards Merimbula Bridge for serene lake vistas.

SUP and kayak hire are available from the jetty, as well as regular fishing charters with Fishpen Charters.

Mitchies Jetty is located in Fishpen within walking distance from Merimbula township.
