Yindyamarra
Things To Do Wyalong, Bland, New South Wales
This stunning collection, permanently displayed at The Wetlands, showcases significant Indigenous artefacts and symbols painted by local artists.
The lead artist, Kheely Turner from Bundyi Yadhaa, collaborated with Indigenous students from Ungarie Central School—Ethan Robb, Allora Vinecombe, Joseph McKenzie, Madi Vinecombe, Archer Hale, Dean Hale, and Mitchell Collins—who painted many of the artefacts with assistance from Jon and Rhonda of Didgeridoos on Main. Additionally, local students from Wyalong Public School have their handprints set in concrete around the exhibition. The magnificent didgeridoos were supplied by Jon Juda of Didgeridoos on Main in West Wyalong.
The Yindyamarra display was officially opened by Bland Shire Council Deputy Mayor Rodney Crowe and New South Wales Aboriginal Land Council Wiradjuri Region Councillor Leeanne Hampton, followed by a brilliant didgeridoo performance by Charlie Dodds.
Developed by Bland Shire Council in collaboration with the West Wyalong Local Aboriginal Land Council, the Yindyamarra display was funded by the Stronger Country Communities grant from the NSW Government, with additional support from the NSW Country Arts Support Program – Create NSW.
