Big Kookaburra

Landmarks and Buildings

Perched on a tree trunk in the Hunter Valley town of Kurri Kurri, the Big Kookaburra was built in 2009 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the town’s Hydro Aluminium.

Standing at almost 5 metres tall, the statue was created by sculptor Chris Fussell and can be found in Col Brown Rotary Park at the centre of the town. Kookaburras are also featured in each of the 60 murals found around Kurri Kurri, pick up a map at the Visitor Centre to find them all.
