Shelley Beach

Natural Attractions

There are dozens of Shelley/Shelly Beaches in Australia, but this beach certainly lives up to its name.

Shelley Beach lies about six kilometres from Angourie along the Yuraygir coastal walk, or it can be reached from the south – a seven kilometre hike from Red Cliff.

It’s a perfect day/half-day expedition from either direction. If you’re wanting to pitch a tent and stay overnight, the campground is of the bring-everything-in, take-everything-out variety, which includes your drinking water.

With rock pools at either end, a small creek, great swimming in sheltered conditions (but be careful), a headland for views, and a few other secret coves, Shelley is really something special.

Unpatrolled waters can be unpredictable. Choose patrolled beaches for a safer experience and swim only between the flags. Avoid jumping into unknown water depths or areas with unseen hazards. Be aware of currents, rocks, and sudden drops, and always make sure you’re swimming in safe areas to protect yourself and your loved ones!
