Mount Barrington picnic area

Natural Attractions

High in the ‘tops’ region of Barrington Tops National Park, Mount Barrington picnic area offers spellbinding views over the vast mountain ranges and the western fall of Barrington World Heritage wilderness park. While it’s not a formal lookout, you’ll still enjoy a ‘top of the world’ feeling as you soak in the scenery.

This spot is a fabulous base for exploring the sub-alpine region, whether you’re planning a camping holiday to Wombat Creek campground or a day walk along Careys Peak walking track. Or simply relish the impact of the crisp mountain air on your appetite and enjoy a picnic.

If you’re into birdwatching, be sure to look for flame robins and Richards pipets flitting among the branches of the snow gums. The nearby trails are also popular for mountain biking.
