The Coast track

Natural Attractions

The Coast track in Sydney’s Royal National Park is an epic multi-day walk between Bundeena and Otford. Enjoy incredible coastal lookouts, swimming spots, seasonal wildflowers and whale watching along this challenging 26-kilometre track.

The Coast track is best tackled in sections or in a single day if you’re a super-fit and experienced bushwalker.

The northern section of the walk covers around 16 km from Bundeena to Garie Beach. Allow 5-6 hours to enjoy the rugged beauty of sandstone escarpments, sandy beaches, coastal heath and forest, as you walk. There are several scenic stops along the way.

The southern section of the walk, Otford lookout and Garie Beach, covers 10 km and takes 3-5 hours. You’ll pass Werrong lookout and several heritage shacks at South Era, as well as the coastal rainforest of Burning Palms and Palm Jungle.

There’s no public transport through Royal National Park so remember to organise a car shuffle or have someone pick you up at Garie Beach picnic area. You’ll need to bring drinking water and food with you.
