At the AFL Legends Charity Game earlier this year, Hughesy limped off the field with five broken ribs, a punctured lung – but not before kicking a goal. Legend! And true to form, he even made it to the afterparty. Weeks later, and as bruises were fading, he returned to hospital with fluid in his lungs.
