Young Dobell opening celebration and award announcement

Join MAC yapang in celebrating the launch of the Young Dobell 2026 exhibition and discover this year’s finalists and category award winners.

Young artists aged 5-18 from Lake Macquarie, Newcastle, Port Stephens, Maitland, the Hunter and the Central Coast were invited to submit portraits and landscapes inspired by the people, pets and places that matter most to them.

Finalist artworks include portraits created from life, memory, or photo reference, portraits of pets, and landscapes that reflect meaningful local places and experiences.
