Burton Automotive Hunter Valley Steamfest

The beloved Burton Automotive Hunter Valley Steamfest celebrates the Hunter’s industrial heritage with a weekend full of train locomotives, antique machinery, classic cars and family fun.

Set in the heart of Maitland at the Maitland Train Station, you can hear the hustle and bustle of the steam and diesel engines as they constantly pull into the station for their trip to many destinations. Children and adults alike will thrill from seeing and hearing the steam and locomotives up close. Make your way down to Garnham Grounds to see a vast array of antique machinery from all over Australia. You can also watchmakers at work at Maker and Merchants where they demonstrate their traditional arts, forgotten crafts and rare trades.

On Sunday, the annual Great Train Race sees two locomotives race a Tigermoth from Newcastle Interchange to Maitland Station. Mesmerizing to watch, are the trains and aeroplanes at the finish line.

The Show ‘n’ Shine is an impressive showcase of motoring history, bringing Maitland Park to life with over 500 classic cars, food stalls, live entertainment and fun for the whole family.

Exciting activities for everyone, with vintage diesel rides, steampunkers, market stalls, road steam, face painting, live and roving entertainment, kid’s activities, and much more.
