Mimi’s

Restaurant and Cafe

Spread across the middle floor of the beachfront Coogee Pavilion, Mimi’s is a fine dining restaurant with a Mediterranean-inspired menu created with classically Australian ingredients. The beautiful pastel-hued dining room and huge arched windows looking out over the beach highlight the restaurant’s connection to the coast. Part of Justin Hemmes’ vast Merivale hospitality empire (and named for his mother), it’s an understated yet glamorous seaside dream.

The menu changes regularly, but a popular way to start your feast is with a bump of black caviar served with an ice-cold shot of vodka. The seafood is exceptional, with fresh oysters, mud crab, lobster, abalone and fish always available. Other menu highlights include caviar pie, charred Murray cod, suckling pig and plenty of wagyu beef. All the breads, butters, vinegars and cured meats are made in-house, and the skill of the expert chefs can be seen in every dish.

The cocktails are just as impressive, and many are made with rare spirits sourced from around the globe. There’s also a huge wine list with some bottles priced at more than $10,000, if you fancy splashing out for a special occasion.
