The town of Putty is located in the Singleton Shire on the Putty Road between Windsor and Singleton. The town lies in a wide valley and is surrounded by Wollemi and Yengo National Parks. Putty Creek runs the length of the valley before joining Wollemi Creek that feeds into the Colo River. The Putty Valley Road services the northern stretch of the valley.
