Tomerong

Urban

Tomerong is located west of Jervis Bay, and 20 kilometres south of Nowra. The small town centre is just off the Princes Highway on Hawken Road.

Prior to the highway bypass, it was a major stopover point on the trip between Sydney and Melbourne.

Traditionally, Tomerong was a major tree-felling area with its products being shipped to Sydney via the port of Jervis Bay. The name ‘Tomerong’ is derived from the local aboriginal word for ‘tall trees’

A small town of 500 people, Tomerong combines village life with beaches, fishing, boating, bushwalking, and other recreational activities.

The village market is held on the third Saturday of each month, offering great produce in a community setting.
