Located on the Hastings Rive,r19 kilometres west of Port Macquarie, Wauchope is a friendly town of country charm and hospitality. In the mid 1800s, pioneers made the town famous as a timber town. Now it’s home to the attraction Timbertown, a major working recreation of a typical 1800s timber town, where you can pan for gold and see Australia’s largest water wheel.
Wauchope is surrounded by picturesque farmland and forests and beyond, a hinterland of rainforest reserves and vast wilderness areas.
The township has vibrant cafes, boutique shops, and be sure to visit Billabong Koala and Wildlife Park whilst in the region. Bago Vineyard and Maze is another popular stop, where you can chill out and enjoy their fine wine. Look out for Jazz in the Vineyard every second Sunday of the month.
The Greater Port Macquarie Visitor Information Centre can help you to plan your visit.
