Wean is a well known Boggabri property in the New England region of North West New South Wales.
The Wean Amateur Picnic Races are held in July each year they are one of the few true picnic races still operating in New South Wales. Coaches operate from Boggabri to take patrons to and from races and after dark dinner and dancing is held on the course.
Since 1933, the Wean Amateur Picnic Races has been one of the historic meeting places of North West NSW. As more and more Picnic clubs from that era pass into history, it is also one of the few functioning examples left of how previous generations used to entertain themselves.
Next Wean Picnic Races will be held on July 14.
