Windellama is a thriving rural community with an active progress association located within the boundaries of the Bungonia Recreation Area, Windellama is home to many distinct flora species including the Wolgan Snow Gum, a eucalypt that is a survivor of the last Ice Age when this region was much drier than it is today.

A small museum is housed in a replica building of the 1880s school and markets are held on the third Sunday of each month.
