The Original Tea Gardens Ferry Service provides a charming and scenic ferry ride between Nelson Bay and Tea Gardens, operating daily with a travel duration of approximately one hour each way. Ferries depart from the Public Jetty at 40 Victoria Parade in Nelson Bay and from the public wharf opposite the Tea Gardens Hotel.
This service utilises historic timber ferries that have been beloved by the community for over 30 years. Crafted for comfort, these vessels offer breathtaking views of Port Stephens and the Myall River, allowing passengers to fully appreciate the area’s natural beauty while keeping an eye out for local wildlife, including dolphins.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome aboard. Passengers may bring bicycles, but e-bike batteries must be removed prior to boarding. The MV Tea Gardens, the queen of the fleet, is the only vessel in the bay that provides easy wheel-on, wheel-off access, making it an excellent choice for those with mobility needs.
