This Building is the only remnant of the 55 Military Camp Hospital constructed by the Australian Military Force in 1942.

After its decommissioning as the ware hospital, it became the outpatient’s section of the Tennant Creek hospital until 1978.

It restored by the NT National Trust in 1988 after been saved by passionate local resident’s and opened as a museum showcasing the history of the Barkly region.

It also houses a unique archive of material relating to the life of Tenant Creek and the Barkly Region, Exhibitions on Health, WW2, Mining, first Nations, local station and community interests.
