The Amphitheatre

National Parks and Reserves

Take a break at the Amphitheatre – a pocket of monsoon rainforest located along the Jatbula Trail. The Amphitheatre is located 26 kilometres from Nitmiluk Gorge and is a favourite resting place for many walkers on day 3 of the trail. A horseshoe-shaped depression in the side of the escarpment forms the Amphitheatre. Around the base of the high walls are Jawoyn Aboriginal paintings. Please help protect the paintings – do not
touch. Within the Amphitheatre there is a monsoon forest pocket with a semi-permanent stream where you can usually find water (treat before using).

The Jatbula Trail is a 62 kilometre one-way trek that starts at the Nitmiluk Centre and finishes at Leliyn (Edith Falls).

This highly popular walk must be booked online well in advance of your visit, to avoid disappointment.
