Augathella Spiegeltent

Entertainment Venues

In 2009 as part of the Q150 Celebrations the Queensland Government constructed a shed that would travel the state providing each community it visited a night of entertainment. Communities toured included: Mount Isa Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, Maryborough, Blackall, Augathella, Cherbourg, Warwick, Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

The shed had come to rest permanently in Augathella and was used as a community function and entertainment centre, until it was discovered by the founders of Wynnum Fringe Festival!

The Bush To The Bay project, saw Wynnum Fringe embark on an ambitious mission to rescue, reimagine, and revive the Augathella Spiegeltent.

After sitting unused in Augathella since 2013, this cultural gem is getting a second life, thanks to the dedication of passionate festival lovers and businesses. A $100,000+ crowdfunding effort has successfully relocated the Spiegeltent to Wynnum, where it is undergoing extensive renovations to restore its grandeur.

This revival is more than just a restoration—it’s creating jobs for local creatives, fostering emerging talent, and establishing a dynamic hub for storytelling and performance. Set in a lot generously donated by BMD Construction, the Spiegeltent will soon become a beacon of arts, culture, and entertainment.
