Octopus Dive is a locally owned and operated mobile dive business based in Cairns, offering small-group scuba diving experiences across some of Far North Queensland’s most unique environments.

From the vibrant fringing reefs of Fitzroy Island to the volcanic freshwater Crater Lakes, the dive trips cater to all skill levels — from first-time divers to certified professionals.

Octopus Dive specialises in PADI recreational courses, refresher programs, certified fun dives and nationally accredited occupational diving certifications, with a strong focus on safety, support, and personal attention. Whether guests are looking to get certified, upskill, or simply explore the Great Barrier Reef in a relaxed and fun setting, the passionate team of instructors will guide every step of the way. There is a variety of options on offer – Discover SCUBA Pool or Ocean experience, 3 Day PADI Open Water Learn to Dive course, and a One Day – One Dive Re-activate refresher course.

Discover Scuba Pool Experience only - Great for children 12+

Interested in SCUBA Diving – You have never tried this before! You may never have tried to put on a mask and breathe through a snorkel before. Then this is the test you would want to book before going into the ocean!

What’s included
Gear rental, PADI Booklet with more info, Registered as a Discover Scuba Diver with PADI, offers and latest news will be emailed by PADI (if experience completed successfully)
1 hour with an instructor. Note This is not a course that certifies you with an actual dive certification, more training is required.

What’s not included
No lunch or snacks are provided, but can be purchased on the island

Itinerary
Depart Cairns at 8.00am for the short 45 minute ferry transfer taking you to a breathtaking tropical island. Your one hour Discover SCUBA Pool Experience will be at 9.30am or 12.30pm allowing ample time for you to enjoy one of the many other activities at the Fitzroy Island Sports Hub, enjoy lunch at FOXY or hit one of the hiking trails through the rainforest. Return to Cairns on the 5.00pm ferry.

Discover SCUBA Ocean Dive Experience

$195

A short 45 minute ferry transfer from Cairns at 8.00am takes you to a breathtaking tropical island. Your two hour Discover SCUBA Ocean Dive Experience will commence at 12.30pm allowing ample time for you to enjoy one of the many other activities at the Fitzroy Island Sports Hub, or hit one of the hiking trails through the rainforest.

Briefing and equipment preparation at 12:30pm, walking down to the beach in front of the dive shop for some surface skill such as regulator recovery, regulator clearing, weight belt removal, and BCD inflation, then underwater skills such as regulator clearing, regulator recovery, mask clearing, breathing techniques and equalization techniques.

Then 30 minutes of swimming along the reef in shallow waters. Perfect for complete beginners!

Registered as a Discover Scuba Diver with PADI, Almost 2 hours with an instructor
