Located within the Great Sandy Strait internationally recognised Ramsar wetlands, the Tin Can Bay Foreshore Bird Walk offers visitors the chance to immerse themselves in one of Queensland’s most ecologically significant environments. This rich and diverse ecosystem is characterised by tidal swamps, intertidal sand and mud flats, seagrass beds, mangrove forests, and salt marsh wetlands. Each playing a vital role in supporting a wide variety of bird and marine life.

The Tin Can Bay Foreshore Bird Walk is a 4km coastal trail that winds along the shoreline, offering visitors the chance to observe over 140 recorded bird species, including migratory shorebirds and threatened species. During low tide, sandbanks become vital feeding grounds, while high tide offers secluded roosting spots. Ensuring incredible viewing opportunities throughout the day.

The foreshore is also home to other marine wildlife such as turtles, dugongs, and dolphins, making it a sanctuary for nature enthusiasts.
