Pioneer Cottage Buderim

Galleries, Museums and Collections

Buderim’s House Museum Pioneer Cottage has been owned by the community and managed by the Buderim Historical Society since 1966. It is heritage listed and represents a fine example of late 19th century design using pit-sawn and hand crafted local rainforest and hardwood timbers.

The Cottage stands where it was built behind Buderim’s main street, Burnett St. in about 1882. John Burnett and his wife Ann and 8 children lived in this four-roomed house, with 2 upstairs rooms added to accommodate their growing family.

In 1952 it was purchased by local school teacher Sybil Vise who subsequently gifted it to the community to be used as a museum.

The land is part of the the traditional lands of the Kabi Kabi people.
