Classes, Lessons, Workshops and Talks

16 May 2026 Once Only Event

Shipwrecks, sharks and Spanish treasure! From vanishing aircraft to mysterious remains and smouldering ships, the waters off the Redland Coast have seen their share of drama.

What became of the six R.A.A.F. pilots last sighted near Amity Point on 12 August 1940? How did Willie Fielding’s tragic story lead to his remains being discovered inside a shark? Was the fiery end of the Courier part of a deliberate plot to stop Cleveland from becoming Queensland’s major port? And is there truly Spanish treasure still waiting to be found?

Join the Local History team for a special Redlands AdventureFest talk and delve into some of the region’s most gripping and unexpected maritime misadventures.
