Redlands Coast AdventureFest – Whimsical Whales – Ceramic Wall Hanging Workshop with Meri Mila

Festivals and Celebrations

17 May 2026 Once Only Event

In preparation for the annual whale migration along the Redlands Coast, join Straddie based ceramic artist Meri Mila for a special handbuilding pottery workshop inspired by the gentle giants of the ocean.

You will create a ceramic piece inspired by whale forms, movement, and whimsical wonder.

You will be given a pre-rolled slab of clay from which Merri will teach you how to sculpt your very own whale. Once the form is there, you will be able to design and decorate your whale with your own whimsical patterns, colours and textures creating a unique wall hanging.

Using accessible handbuilding techniques, Meri will guide you step by step to shape and decorate your piece. No prior pottery experience is needed – this workshop is suitable for beginners and those wanting to explore clay in a relaxed, meaningful way.

Held as part of Redlands Coast AdventureFest, this session offers a slower kind of adventure – one that invites you to connect with the natural cycles of the region through creativity and making by hand.

A beautiful way to honour the whales, the season, and the Redlands Coast through clay.
