Located in a beautiful natural bush land setting, Cleland offers visitor’s many memorable opportunities to discover a large number of South Australia’s captivating wildlife. Many animals are free-roaming in the 35-hectare park, creating wonderful impromptu opportunities to touch and interact with their native wildlife.

Engaging interpretation and self-guided discovery trails, all enhance the visitor’s experience. Personal encounters with South Australian wildlife, combined with a licensed café and souvenir shop, ensure that Cleland has something for everyone.

Our Hold A Koala Experience provides you the opportunity to hold a koala, interact with a dedicated koala keeper, and gain a deeper understanding of these iconic marsupials.

Guided by our knowledgeable and passionate staff, you will enjoy a meaningful, informative experience that highlights the vital importance of protecting koalas and their natural habitat.

It’s not all fur and feathers at Cleland Wildlife Park there are lots of scales as well! This experience provides an opportunity for guests to get up-close to, or even hold, a snake or lizard.

The Daily Reptile Hold provides an opportunity for guests to get up-close to some of Australia’s native iconic snakes and lizards. Those participating in this experience are able to hold a reptile, whilst spending time with the keeper and learning interesting facts about reptile adaptations and behaviours, and the importance of reptiles in the environment.

In the early part of the day, Cleland comes alive to the tune of the many bird species who call the park home. Enjoy this exclusive tour with our experienced bird keeper before the park opens (when the birds are most active!). There will be plenty of time to ask questions and take photos of birds in the Mallee, Forest and Swamp Aviaries.

If your group is brimming with wildlife-related questions and you enjoy listening and learning about Australian wildlife and conservation, then this Guided Tour is a must! We even provide you with special food, so you can get up-close to some of our animals and hand-feed them.

Tour Highlights:

Tours can comprise of a general exploration of the park, or they can be tailored to the specific interests of your group.

Generally, a Guided Day Tour includes: visiting the Red Kangaroos and Tasmanian Devils, hand-feeding some of the park’s friendly inhabitants, such as kangaroos, wallabies, emus and water birds, viewing the koalas in their lofts and walking through one of our bird aviaries.

Come inside their cockatoo aviary and embark on a memorable experience with their resident Cockatoos as they interact with you. These birds have either been rescued or hand raised and have an affinity towards humans. They love to share their stories with you and offer you the chance to get up close with the birds and get to know them better

Did you know that echidnas hibernate during the colder months? This means that this experience is seasonal. They expect their echidna experience to be available again in either September or October 2024.

The Echidna Encounter provides an opportunity for guests to meet one of Australia’s native icons, the echidna. Those participating in this encounter enter the enclosure with the wildlife keeper, and assist with this unique opportunity of feeding these animals while learning all about their adaptations and behaviours, and the importance of echidnas in the environment.
