Located amongst acres of rolling hillsides and gum tree studded landscapes, Glenbarr Homestead is one of the oldest properties in South Australia. Located 45 minutes South-west of Adelaide on the outskirts of Strathalbyn.
Glenbarr Homestead is now more of a museum, but one that you interact with. The house overflows with pieces that make your memories come to life but also show you how previous generations lived. The number of visitors that say “I remember my grandmother/family having one of those growing up “.
Glenbarr tells the story of its heritage buildings; the Rankine family who settled there in the 1840’s and owned the property for 80 years and three generations; the Giles and Bowman family, who have been custodians since 1923 (now a Foundation), and the social history of the camps and activities that Glenbarr has hosted over the past 80 years.
A beautiful 1870 refurbished barn, suitable for a gorgeous sit-down dinner or cocktail-style canapés. Surrounded by extensive grounds for marquees, outdoor entertainment and endless photo opportunities.
Group accommodation for up to 40 people is available to make it a weekend of fun with family and friends, and a morning after breakfast.
Schools and private tours and groups are happily catered for with packages for morning tea and lunch available. The function rooms can also be hired for corporate needs.
