Nuriootpa Heritage Trail

Historical Sites and Heritage Locations

The township of Nuriootpa has a short yet fascinating history, much of which can be found along its main street. In many ways Nuriootpa provides a fine example of a successful regional South Australian town that played a prominent role in the State’s early development.

Discover interesting stories and anecdotes about the people and built history of the town as you wander along Murray Street. Stop for a coffee or bite to eat along the way. This walking tour is approximately 2km and should take about an hour and a half to complete.

The Barossa Heritage Trails App features six self-guided walking trails and one driving trail. The interactive app highlights the rich and sometimes little-known heritage stories and experiences of the region through text, photos, video and audio. Explore unique locations, buildings and historic sites, encompassing both First Nations and European settlement.

The project is an initiative of The Barossa Council Public Libraries supported by Barossa Regional Heritage Network, Foundation Barossa and the Peter Lehmann Arts & Education Trust.
