Emu Ridge eucalyptus distillery offers visitors a unique insight into one of Australia’s earliest industries.
Visitors can discover how eucalyptus oil is made, from early island history through to modern production. Eucalyptus oil was Australia’s first true export and once a major industry on Kangaroo Island. Emu Ridge preserves an important part of the island’s heritage while producing eucalyptus oil that is unique to the world.
Located just 15 minutes from Kingscote, American River and Parndana, Emu Ridge is an easy stop while exploring the island.
Guided and self-guided tours take visitors through the distillery, sharing the distillation process and the many traditional and modern uses of eucalyptus oil.
The site includes a well-established retail store offering locally made eucalyptus oil and natural products, along with a great range of Kangaroo Island produce, art, craft and historical memorabilia.
The onsite café serves breakfast and lunch & coffee. Indoor dining, two large outdoor areas and a picnic space provide relaxed settings for visitors and events. A fully licensed bar is also available.
Visitors can enjoy a tasting cellar door experience featuring Emu Ridge’s own eucalyptus vodka and gin, as well as the award-winning Kangaroo Island ciders.
