Naracoorte Cemetery

At the cemetery, visitors can explore the monuments and gravestones that form an important part of Naracoorte’s heritage.

The exact opening date of the current cemetery on Playford Drive is unknown. However, the Government Gazette of September 1864 listed Naracoorte among the cemeteries to which new regulations applied. The earliest headstone at the site records a death in January 1865. This date is sometimes confused with the burial register, which did not commence until 1878.
