The much-awarded team at Murray River Trails have created immersive multiday tours for small groups of up to 10 people in the most beautiful, remote and highly conserved reaches of Australia’s greatest river.
A purpose-built eco-houseboat provides the luxurious accommodation base for guests on a Murray River Walk — a four-day walking tour in the cooler months of the year, and Murray River Safari — a four-day wildlife experience in the warmer months including short walks, easy kayaking, river cruising, and driving around the outback lakes.
This is a unique opportunity to experience the rich stories of Australia’s greatest river, the Murray; its remarkable journey, enduring Aboriginal culture, diverse wildlife and wetlands, pioneers and innovators, the challenge of sharing water, inspiring environmental stewardship, fabulous local food and award-winning regional wines.

Immerse yourself in four days of relaxed hiking along the Murray River in South Australia with overnight accommodation on a luxury houseboat.
Murray River Walk is for those wanting to connect to the river and who enjoy the wellness benefits of walking in nature.
Their passionate guides lead guests in small groups through diverse and beautiful landscapes, sharing stories of culture, history, and environmental stewardship on daily walks of up to 12km. Encounter diverse birdlife, kangaroos and emus.
Rejuvenate after each day’s walking on the luxury houseboat with a cooling foot-dip in the river or a hot spa on the top deck. Reflect on the days highlights over chef designed meals that showcase local food and award-winning Riverland wine.
Walking and sleeping alongside a mighty river, savouring local produce, encountering diverse flora and fauna, and learning from knowledgeable guides, make this a unique experience.
The fully catered tours are available from May to September annually and depart from Renmark, South Australia.
Tours departing on Mondays will be on board their luxury houseboat with ensuite rooms.

With overnight accommodation on a luxury houseboat, Murray River Safari is for those who enjoy short trips such as guided walks, canoeing, an outback drive, and open boat cruising. A collection of small guided river tours enable you to encounter koalas, kangaroos, emus, and many of the 180 species of birds that call this region home.
Recharge daily on the luxury houseboat with fresh lunches and superb river dining including award-winning Riverland wines. Enjoy a spa on the top deck and reflect on the days highlights, capturing the amazing sunset reflections.
Our guides help you connect with the river through the stories and participating in important citizen science programs. Learn about the pioneering years of paddle steamer trade in the inland as well as ancient cultures predating them by thousands of years. You’ll admire the feats of migratory waders from the northern hemisphere and migratory Rainbow bee-eaters on spectacular inland lakes.
The fully catered Murray River Safari tours are available from March to April and October to November annually and depart from Renmark, South Australia.

Choosing from our most popular 4, 5 or 6 day itineraries, included are short trips such as guided walks, canoeing and wine, distillery and brewery tours and a local chef to come aboard and prepare a three course dinner.
Our Escapes itineraries have been designed specially to help you experience the river. Our relaxing schedule of activities include ample time for your group to spend time as you wish.
This is a self catered experience and is available in December, January and February annually.

This tour is a gentle river journey through the Australian outback to the Murray Mouth, which magnificently capturing the landscapes and wildlife diversity, linking the wetlands in the Riverland to the wetlands of the Lower Lakes and Coorong, where the Murray mouth opens to the Southern Ocean.
Meet Aboriginal elders and experience the Aboriginal dreaming and cultures along the river as you journey from Erawirung Country to Ngaut Ngaut Conservation Park en route to the Coorong in the heart of the Ngarrindjeri Nation.
This tour is fully catered and includes accommodation on a luxury houseboat and lodge retreat, both with ensuite rooms.
