Parara Whale Memorial

Landmarks and Buildings

A popular destination for visitors to approximately 5 kms south of Ardrossan there is a memorial constructed in memory of 7 whales which beached themselves in 2014.
The Arrium Mine and the local school children were involved in developing the project. Dolomite rocks from the mine were used and the children named the whales. A plaque was placed on each rock telling the name chosen, whale type and weight.
