As part of the Adelaide Queer Film Festival Program: Marking its 40th anniversary, Donna Deitch’s Desert Hearts remains one of the most enduring works in lesbian cinema. At a time when depictions of lesbian love were scarce and often tragic, a story of authentic connection unfolds.
Set in 1950s Nevada, the film follows reserved English professor Vivian as she awaits her divorce, only to be drawn to Cay, a confident, independent younger woman.
