Yakitori Takumi has been serving South Australia since 2004 as a dedicated yakitori specialty shop – one of the few of its kind in Australia.

“Yakitori” literally translates to “grilled chicken” — skewered pieces cooked over a traditional grill on bamboo sticks. But it’s more than that: a wide variety of cuts, along with beef, pork, seafood, and vegetables, are all prepared in true yakitori style.

This is a place built on simplicity. No pretence, no ego — just honest food made with care. Yakitori Takumi brings people together the way an izakaya should: relaxed, welcoming, and perfect for unwinding after work.

Their goal is to share authentic izakaya dining culture with the local community while creating a comforting “home away from home” for Japanese expats. No sushi, no teppanyaki, no ramen — just yakitori, done the way it’s meant to be. A true yakitori-ya: Japanese-style tapas, focused and genuine.

Alongside the food, Yakitori Takumi offers a thoughtfully curated selection of Japanese beers, sake, whisky, and plum wine to complete the experience.
