Paskeville is famed as the host town for the Yorke Peninsula Field Days, held biennally in September in odd-numbered years.
This event is the oldest in Australia and one of the biggest, exhibiting millions of dollars worth of farm machinery. Named Community Event of the Year 2006 and inducted into the SA Great Regional Awards Hall of Fame in 2008, the field days also offer fantastic food and entertainment and a chance to mix with the locals.
This small town is 131 kilometres from Adelaide and a reception point for grain deliveries.
Although Paskeville is located in the centre of the peninsula, it is less than an hour from such popular seaside resorts as Port Wakefield, Moonta Bay and Wallaroo.
It is also just a 19km drive west from the peninsula’s largest town, Kadina. A product of the copper mining boom in the mid-19th century when thousands of Cornish miners flocked to the pitheads. Kadina co-hosts the biennial Kernewek Lowender, one of the largest Celtic festivals held outside the United Kingdom.
