Sherwood Loves Tasmania, a high-end retreat with panoramic mountain views, 45 minutes from Hobart Airport. It is located in Buckland, the south-east end of the Great Eastern Drive.
You can book ‘The Estate’, which sleeps up to 16 people in six rooms; with an option to add 8 more beds in the beautifully curated bunk room called ‘Mosh’ to make 24. ‘The Estate’ and ‘The Estate Plus’ bookings include the use of a modern chef’s kitchen.
Or, just book one or more of the eight unique rooms separately and enjoy a shared experience with other guests; there is a fully stocked kitchenette. The dining, lounge, deck, bathrooms and gardens have shared access.
They don’t include breakfasts, but various catering options are available, including evening meals or breakfasts, as an add-on if desired.

This room is called ‘Ori’ because this room is the original room – the cottage – built in 1840s. ‘Ori’ in Latin means ‘rise’, ‘begin’, ‘appear’; or in Hebrew, it means ‘my light’ and therefore, this is the original light that rose, the beginning of Sherwood Loves Tasmania almost 200 years ago.
This bedroom has a substantial double bed. Price is for two. This room has its own little lounge to relax in – an extra single bed can be put in (for an extra fee). It has views into the valley facing south.
Two artists contribute to Ori that adds to the meaning of the space Ruth Lange’s ‘Wall Spirit’ is a painting of a sandstone wall in Sydney’s The Rocks. The second artist, Jane Bennett, is a prolific, well awarded Australian artist who focuses on painting places and scenes that are vulnerable to urban development.
The bathroom nearest The Ori Room is the downstairs bathroom in the main homestead. There is also a bathroom and two toilets in The Pavilion building.

This bedroom has the stunning view to Mount Gatehouse. Every morning, the view is like a different painting.
This room is dedicated to an artist, Sarah Pirrotina, whose work is out of this world. Sarah is from Geelong, Victoria, Australia. If there is a word for this room, it’s ‘Dreamy’. Sarah’s work also adorns the dining room and lounge.
The upstairs bathroom near The Pink Room is shared with the Yellow and Blue Rooms. If busy, there is a bathroom and two toilets at The Pavilion building for your use, too.

This bedroom has views into the garden – here you get an aerial view of every stepping-stone we have laid. This room is so bright and sunshiny like the artist we are dedicating this room to, Sha’an d’Anthes, aka Furry Little Peach from Sydney, Australia.
Sha’an is a prolific artist, illustrator, designer and inspiring influencer. She is sunshine! The paintings on the walls were from Peachtober, where she would set a list of prompts, and thousands of artists would paint to it. If there is a word for this room, it’s ‘Peachy’. Sha’an has a gift for storytelling as seen in her children’s books which are also in the room.
The bathroom near The Yellow Room is shared with the Pink and Blue Rooms. If busy, there is a bathroom and two toilets at The Pavilion building for your use, too.

This bedroom has views to Mount Gatehouse, and also has a bay window seat. The artist we are dedicating this room to is Helen Dardik from Ottawa, Canada. Helen is a prolific artist, illustrator and designer. We love Helen’s vibrant and folksy work, where humans, animals, and flowers/plants seem to intermingle; we could call this room ‘Cosy’.
The bathroom near The Blue Room is shared with the Pink and Yellow Rooms. If busy, there is a bathroom and two toilets in The Pavilion building for your use, too.

In these rooms, you will find historical pieces from the original stable re-installed back into the rooms. The beautiful 11.5m hand hewn beam, sitting on their original support beam, imbedded in the original plinth brings character to these rooms.
The Yin Room is inspired by the divine feminine in all of us. The Yin Room has is softer, more feminine energy to its Yang counterpart, even though the portrait is of a female warrior.
The Yin Room faces a rustic sheep shearing shed – you feel like you’re in another place, another time.
Both Yin and Yang Rooms share a toilet, and the bathroom access is at The Pavilion.

When you book The Estate, you have exclusive use of the massive deck that wrap arounds the building, with the stunning views on one side, and the gardens on the other, has nooks to allow people to have downtime away from the group.
Enjoy the wonderful collection of art and sculptures that they’ve collected over the years which we have scattered around The Estate! In fact – the spaces were specially designed to house their meaningful art, quirky furniture and eclectic artefacts… a tail-wags-dog syndrome, chuckle.
You have use of a chef’s kitchen, the kitchenette and the dining spaces inside and out, as well as the beautiful lounge.
These spaces are yours to enjoy exclusively – the owners will pop in and out to ensure breakfast re-stocking happens but generally leave your group to enjoy these spaces.

(NB. For an additional fee, Mosh can sleep two more as the sofa can be converted into a double bed.)
The vibrant art in Mosh is by Desmond Sim, a Singapore artist of Peranakan heritage. The Peranakan culture is a fusion of Chinese and Malay; this is reflected the colourful Peranakan art, ceramics, books left in the room for your enjoyment.
One of the more beautiful rooms in Sherwood Loves Tasmania with its timber ceiling and floor, and sandstone walls. There are two security coded doors, one from inside the homestead, and one directly onto the deck which faces the magnificent view to Mount Gatehouse – you literally roll out of bed onto the deck, watch the sunrise and pop back into your cosy bed!
