The Top Place Mountain Retreat

Retreat and Lodges

The Top Place is a mountain retreat nestled in Tasmania’s heartland beneath the majestic crags of Mother Cummings Peak and the Great Western Tiers.

Five accommodation suites give elevated views over farmland in one direction, and bushland in the other, replete with wilderness walks for beginners through to the seasoned hiker. More than just a place to sleep, The Top Place is a place to spend some time. Guests are free to wander the 100-acre property, take a dip in the Waterhole, light the fire pit and watch the moon rise, discover the cascading waterfalls, or just soak up the serenity in the many secluded bushland spots.

And although The Top Place feels miles from anywhere, it is just 20 minutes from the picturesque town of Deloraine. The drive from town winds through dairy farms framed by the awe-inspiring Great Western Tiers mountain range. It is easy to fill a week in this beautiful part of Tasmania. Within easy reach you will find stunning hikes, caves, waterfalls, mountain biking, truffle farms, cheesery, raspberry farm, distillery, salmon farm, wineries, ice creamery, chocolate makers, craft breweries, quaint villages with supermarkets, cafes, galleries and speciality shops.

Cradle Mountain is a scenic 90-minute drive.
