The Lady Nelson Tall Ship

Cruises, Sailing and Water Tours

Step into Hobart’s maritime history and sail on a square-rigged tall ship.

Berthed at the picturesque waterfront of Hobart, the iconic and much photographed Lady Nelson tall ship is a replica of the original Lady Nelson brig that brought the first British settlers to Tasmania (then known as Van Diemen’s Land).

Built locally in 1988 based on the original plans, the replica Lady Nelson has been a star attraction on Elizabeth St Pier and is entirely crewed by volunteers who passionately maintain the ship.

Short sails on the harbour provide a unique opportunity to experience tall ship sailing and enjoy the history of both the original Lady Nelson and the current replica .

Haul on a line, brace the yards, steer the ship, talk to the captain and crew or just relax and enjoy the magnificent views of Hobart.

Weekend Short Sails (one and a half hours) – see website for dates and times

Charters & Longer Voyages
The Lady Nelson is also available for private charter and offers a range of amazing multi-day adventure trips exploring places such as Port Arthur, Tasman Peninsular, Bruny Island and the d’Entrecasteaux Channel.
