Coopers Creek

Caravan, Camping and Holiday Parks

This scenic and popular campground and day visitor area is on the Thomson River with easy access to the historic Walhalla area, 2.5 hours drive east of Melbourne.

Accessible by two-wheel drive, Coopers Creek has two campgrounds and a day visitor area. From the day visitor area, you can access the Thomson River via stairs. A short walking trail connects the day visitor area and campground 2.

There are campsites for tent or vehicle-based camping with larger sites available for caravans or camper trailers. The campgrounds have basic facilities, with a toilet block at each and picnic tables at the day visitor area with great views of the river.

Nearby is the heritage-listed Brunton’s Bridge which can be accessed by four-wheel drive or the river along the Thomson River Canoe Trail. Other nearby attractions include the historic Walhalla Goldfields Railway and Poverty Point Bridge Walk. The historic gold mining township of Walhalla is only 15 minutes by car.

Campground 2 may be closed in winter or during times of high rainfall.
