Hilda Bain Mural – Winton Wetlands

Galleries, Museums and Collections

Hilda Bain Mural stands tall at the entrance to The Lunette within Winton Wetlands – a powerful large-scale mural created by renowned artist Cam Scale in 2016. Known for his dramatic, emotive figures and masterful use of aerosol, oil and acrylic, Cam has captured both strength and spirit in this evocative piece.

Hilda Bain was part of one of the pioneering settler families who helped shape the Winton Wetlands region. Her image was chosen to represent 16 local families whose histories are woven into the land – stories of grit, growth, and deep connection to country.

This artwork is more than a portrait – it’s a window into a way of life. Set against the natural beauty of the wetlands, Hilda’s mural offers visitors a moment of reflection – a striking tribute to the people who once called this place home.
