Lake King Wetlands at Rutherglen

Historical Sites and Heritage Locations

Formed in the late 1860s to supply water to the town, Lake King now sits peacefully between Rutherglen Golf Course, Holiday Park, Apex Playground, and the Bowling Green.

This scenic wetland is a favorite among locals and visitors alike, offering the picturesque Arthur Mann Scenic Walk, a one-kilometre loop perfect for birdwatching and leisurely strolls.

Don’t miss the Tommy McRae Tribute sculpture, a nod to the region’s rich cultural heritage.

The facilities in the wetlands include public toilets, barbecue areas, children’s playground and skate park. Swimming is not permitted in Lake King, but the Rutherglen Swimming Pool nearby is open during summer for a refreshing dip.
