Stan Allan Reserve Oxley

National Parks and Reserves

The Stan Allan Reserve is situated by the King River’s banks, next to the Snow Road, at the western entrance to Oxley. It serves as the town’s gateway and is a beloved recreational spot and natural treasure in the community.

Back in the mid-1970s, when a new bridge was constructed and the road was realigned, the Oxley Residents’ Association put in an effort to develop the Reserve into a pleasant spot for picnics, fishing, and a popular swimming hole for local families. The Reserve was named after Stan Allan, a pioneer in Oxley who was actively involved in the river’s upkeep and the growth of the Oxley township.

Since its inception, the Reserve has continued to draw locals and visitors to the region. The Reserve is the only spot in town that provides easy access to the river for swimming, thanks to its gently sloping sandy bank. Picnic tables are used daily by travelers, workers, and locals to enjoy a break and take in the stunning riverside view.

It’s the ideal spot to take a breather before heading out to explore the wonders of the Milawa Gourmet Region. (Please note that overnight camping is not permitted.)
