Whitfield to Lake Buffalo cycling trail

Natural Attractions

Ride from the heart of the King Valley’s renowned vineyards to the blue waters of Lake Buffalo on locals’ favourite Rose River Road.

Prosecco Road cellar doors, vibrant vineyards, smooth gravel roads, pristine bushland, rolling hills and majestic Lake Buffalo – this gravel route has it all. Take in the sights of the local produce of King Valley to Lake Buffalo’s calm waters on winding, well-maintained gravel roads through breathtaking scenery. This route is tailored for experienced self-sufficient gravel cyclists, presenting a significant climb up Gentle Annie Gap followed by an exhilarating descent in a remote area with minimal mobile phone coverage. Celebrate with a dip in Lake Buffalo before taking a pre-organised lift back or returning via the same route.

The trails starts at the Whitfield Bicycle Hub and ends at Lake Buffalo Reserve Boat Launch, with an elevation gain of 664 metres. Water can be found at the Cheshunt township and Whitfield township, and toilets at these locations as well as Lake Buffalo.

Every effort to ensure the text, maps and details of each ride are as accurate as possible, but no responsibility is accepted for any inaccuracy or misdescription by either omission or inclusion. Roads and tracks can change or be temporarily closed for a range of reasons.
