National Parks and Reserves

Located within the Freestone Creek Camping Precinct, Blue Pool is a popular scenic spot with a large natural waterhole, making it a fantastic place to visit during the warmer months. It is 3 hours drive east of Melbourne

The pool sits at the base of a narrow basalt gorge on the Freestone Creek, surrounded by rocky outcrops and native forest. A rocky beach provides a place to sit and take in the tranquillity of the site.

Blue Pool is a place of great cultural significance to the Braiakaulung people of the Gunaikurnai nation.

Visitors can enjoy the waterhole, picnic area, walks of varying lengths and the camping area.

Blue Pool is a walk-in camping site – one of nine camping areas in the Freestone Creek Camping Precinct. Campers will need to park their vehicles in the designated parking area and bring their camp kit to the site.

There are no dedicated vehicle-based camping sites for camper trailers or caravans and visitors towing caravans should park at The Quarries Reserve just south of Blue Pool. This site has restricted access and large caravans or groups may find it difficult to park or turn.

This site is near water. Make sure you read the water safety tips before you go.
