Upper Yarra Reservoir Park

National Parks and Reserves

Popular with day-trippers and campers, Upper Yarra Reservoir Park offers natural wonders, historical sites and built facilities to enjoy getting into nature.

Enjoy the gentle shaded walks through bushland beneath tall eucalypts and green fern gullies. See the remnants of the parks earlier use, when it was a small town constructed for the workers who built the dam between 1947 and 1957.

Enjoy breath-taking lookouts over and around the reservoir, keep an eye out for Swamp Wallabies, wombats, fish and kookaburras among the native eucalypts, grevilleas and banksias.

Cool your feet in the Yarra River, follow the river to the secluded Batts Creek Point, or go on a self-guided walk on the Fern Gully Track as it loops through tall eucalypt forest with a dense and sheltered ferny understorey. Visit the Dam Wall Lookout or take a stroll along the Brimbonga Walking Track to the viewing platform and watch the water flow from the Reservoir through the outlet basin as it begins its journey to Melbourne.

Conditions can change in parks for many reasons. Before your visit, please check the relevant park page on the Parks Victoria website for updated changes of conditions and familiarise yourself with important bushfire safety information to ensure your experience is safe and enjoyable. For information about fires, Fire Danger Ratings and Total Fire Bans visit the Emergency Victoria website.
