Sunshine Lunar New Year Festival 2026

Celebrate the Sunshine Lunar New Year Festival, a free family-friendly event in one of Australia’s most diverse neighbourhoods.

Marking the Lunar New Year, or Tết Festival, this annual celebration brings Melbourne’s multicultural community together for a day of colour, culture and fun.

The main stage will come alive with exciting live music, dance performances and multicultural acts showcasing local talent. The fabulous Diana Nguyen will entertain the crowd, hand out lucky red pockets from the Stage Blossom Trees, and MC the Fastest Pho and Fastest Burger Eating Challenges, with $500 prizes up for grabs.

Explore Sunshine’s streets filled with the flavours of street food from around the world, rides big and small, face painting, street performers, and lawn games. Kids can get creative in the Cultural Kid’s Zone and join activities led by local sporting groups.

As night falls, experience the spectacular Lion and Dragon Dance with dazzling special effects and a massive firecracker display on the main stage.
