Russell Cartledge Woodwork Exhibition

Exhibition and Shows

13 May 2026 to 30 Jun 2026 Daily Event

Visit Creswick Visitor Information Centre to see a special exhibition of works by renowned local timber craftsman Russell Cartledge.

After a long and successful career in the finance industry, Russell discovered a very different kind of fulfilment— working with timber and creating with his hands. What began as a quiet interest, soon grew into a genuine passion for craftsmanship and design.

Drawn to the natural beauty and character of wood, Russell specialises in turning pieces on the lathe, carving, and combining traditional techniques with modern materials. His work is distinctive for its use of hundreds of vibrant resin colours, carefully blended to enhance the grain and form of each piece. The result is a collection of striking, one-of-a-kind creations that sit somewhere between functional object and art.

Russell is particularly passionate about using reclaimed local timbers, and giving new life to materials that carry their own history and character. Every piece he creates reflects both the story of the timber and his own evolving artistic vision.

A proud member of the Ballarat Woodworkers Guild, Russell continues to refine his skills while sharing knowledge and inspiration with fellow craftsmen.

Creswick Visitor Information Centre is thrilled to be staging an exhibition of Russell’s work throughout May and June. Head to their social media channels for more information.
